Welcome to the Soka Chronicles.
SPEAKER_05Soka Chronicles with Sharns and R.K. Yo. Welcome to the 32nd episode of Soka Chronicles, the podcast that brings you everything Soka. I'm RKYo, and I'm digitally sitting next to the one and only Sharns who didn't know WhatsApp had an actual desktop app.
SPEAKER_03Yo.
SPEAKER_05Yo Yo.
SPEAKER_03Allow me please. Jessie.
SPEAKER_05April was the month that Jamaica Carnival happened. So obviously we'll be discussing that. And other than that, this month we will be interviewing Ahsoka veteran that goes by the name of Siswa C.
SPEAKER_02Hey.
SPEAKER_05So rest assured, there's gonna be a lot of knowledge coming from that interview.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03For show, for show.
SPEAKER_05For show, for show. Should we get into it?
SPEAKER_03I think we should.
SPEAKER_05Now let's go. First off, I wanna talk about one of my favorite subjects whenever it pops up, which is the release of an album. Because they are scarce in the world of Ahsoka. What you see is a lot of artists, they bring out singles throughout the year, and then once they have enough of them, they make some new sort of songs and they put all of them and the ones that they released on one album. And this time, who has the honor to have released an album?
SPEAKER_03It is that was my drum roll. Yes! He released his album Man with No Door.
SPEAKER_05What does that mean?
SPEAKER_03It means man with no penis.
SPEAKER_05What the fuck? Where that came from?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. You know I'm random.
SPEAKER_05That's so random. This podcast is not for children.
SPEAKER_02It's definitely not. It's definitely PG18.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, for sure. Man with no door. He probably walks in everywhere. That's probably what he means. Anyway, and I'm joking. The album is epic because most of my favourite guest songs of of the last like two, three years are on there. What's your favorite shard?
SPEAKER_03My favourite. I'm struggling to choose between two.
SPEAKER_05Which one is that?
SPEAKER_03So I I actually I actually struggled to choose between about four of them, but I managed to whistle it down to two. And when I got to this last two, I was like, hmm. I can't really choose one. So the two that I'm stuck between is either Licky Tiki or the mean.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, both absolute bangers. Absolute bangers.
SPEAKER_03I love both of those songs. So I can't choose between those, unfortunately, Arkio. What about you?
SPEAKER_05Well, I can choose. There is one of my favourite songs in there. And that's the summer vibe of well, actually all his songs are all their songs are summer vibes, but Mood is a big tune.
SPEAKER_03That was our song of the month. I can't remember which month it was, but I think it was sometime last year.
SPEAKER_05Somewhere around the summer, I feel.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, something like that. But yeah, big tuna, big tuna.
SPEAKER_05Big tune. Big tune. Yeah, so uh check it out on Spotify, check it out all the other streaming platforms, uh iTunes, Apple stuff. I don't know what they name it these days, because I feel like things are changing. Apple Music, that's the one. Make sure you check it out. There will be other songs as well. I understood there are some reggae songs on there, Sharon's.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like the songs that aren't quite soakar, so yeah, just check them out, have a listen. It's uh different.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, fair enough. Let's do that. Mm-hmm. And then I need to talk about Jamaica Carnival.
SPEAKER_03Oh yes. Jamaica Carnival.
SPEAKER_05Plenty of drama, once again.
SPEAKER_03Plenty back on L.
SPEAKER_05Plenty back on L. Excuse me.
SPEAKER_03Plenty back on L. But obviously we haven't interviewed this show, so I don't want to spend, you know me, when I get into the back on L and the stories and the drama. I love to chat. So we're just gonna keep it short. And just touch on yeah.
SPEAKER_05Short and sweet.
SPEAKER_03So the main yeah, the main thing that was uh sorry, the main drama, the main thing that the pages were posting about was about Kai Senna, who if you don't know, he's like a a gamer.
SPEAKER_05And he's a very famous gamer streamer live. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there we go. And he went there with his crew and they were getting stuck in in the daggering and all of them things there. And a lot of them.
SPEAKER_05This is Jamaica, yeah, so daggering is not for the faint-hearted.
SPEAKER_03There we go. And a lot of people were saying that he's mocking the culture, him and his friends mocking the culture, they're not taking it seriously, and all of this stuff, and they're making the culture look bad and blah blah blah blah blah. However, what is Jamaica famous for, please?
SPEAKER_05Well, it's the reason why I never intend to go there.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and you've mentioned it in previous episodes of the podcast. You've mentioned I have. Mate, Jamaica is famous for their daggering, for jumping off speaker boxes. A man will jump off a speaker box and dive into a woman's frontal region, bruv. Her legs are sucking out.
SPEAKER_05And are you here?
unknownBoom, boom, clah!
SPEAKER_05Boom.
SPEAKER_03So he's just copying what he's seen at the end of the day. Do you know what I mean? So I get it. Obviously, you know, when we're not in Jamaica, it is more about whining and whatever, but you still see people joking, joking, and and daggering or whatever. But obviously, Jamaica is known for that.
SPEAKER_05100%.
SPEAKER_03So, you know, I can't knock him too much for it. His friend Ray, that one, I don't know what he was doing, but he had no rhythm, no timing, no nothing. It was embarrassing watching the He was doing his best, okay. I hear it. I hear it. Thank you for your time. But your best was not good enough on this occasion, honey. Go back, learn, come back again, okay? Thank you, buddy.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I I think in the whole drama there were two camps, right? One of them was saying, you know, this is just, you know, it's how do you call it? What was the that was a sentence, right? One of the tweets, one of the reactions on that video.
SPEAKER_03So one of the reactions, they said this is bastardizing and fetish. I can't even say the word properly, fetishizing of not only Caribbean culture but African cultural retention. This is absolutely grotesque and disgusting. This is not playing mass, this is sexual perversion slash deviancy under the guise of participation.
SPEAKER_05Okay, very strong words. That's definitely how you know one camp feels, but the other camp, and I think that was also a reply to that comment, right? Uh the other camp thinks more like so the reply to it wasn't as well written.
SPEAKER_03It simply said, This is Jamaica, we dagger all day, shut up, you take life too serious.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so that's that's honestly it's it's a beautiful depiction of how like the bigger culture, how what camps people are divided in. And obviously, these are two extremes on both sides, but of course, yeah, yeah. You know, it's yeah, it makes sense what people are saying. It also makes sense that people are saying relax, you know, and just chill out. Um the truth will probably be somewhere in the middle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean he was he was having fun, he was enjoying himself, he didn't hurt anybody, he had consent from what we could see. So at the end of the day, he's young, he's like what, 21 or something like that. Let the boy enjoy himself, man. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05Exactly. And if it wasn't him, it was 15 other Americans probably flying over there to do it.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. So it is what it is.
SPEAKER_05Yup. Well, we definitely kept it short and sweet.
SPEAKER_03There we go. And that is it. But if you guys have any views on this, feel free to comment. Um DM us on Instagram at SocaCr SocaCon't even talk now. At Soca underscore chronicles.
SPEAKER_05Yes, please.
SPEAKER_03Let us know what you think, whatcha thought you think.
SPEAKER_05Yes, please. So I think it's time for song of the month. This month we're going back to Barbados to somebody we've also interviewed in the past. It's statement with Just Living.
SPEAKER_01This is the song of the month.
SPEAKER_05And I think then it is time to dive into our interview.
SPEAKER_03I think so.
SPEAKER_05Definitely not a rising Soka Star. Because he's been in the scene for a long time.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_05Let's have a listen to our interview with Siswith C.
SPEAKER_03Hey.
SPEAKER_05I think it is Toka Soka Chronicles. This month we have a very interesting interview with someone who has been in the game for a very, very long time. Dialing in all the way from Miami, a warm welcome to Siswith C.
SPEAKER_03Welcome, welcome. Once again, hey. Love it.
SPEAKER_05So honestly, when I did my research, because everybody knows I love my research, um, the first video I found from you on your own channel is 17 years ago. Now, before we started recording, you mentioned that's not even when I started.
SPEAKER_03Damn, Daniel.
SPEAKER_05So, how did it all start?
SPEAKER_08Um, so I was so 1998.
SPEAKER_0398 when I was just born, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Lying straight off the bath is when I recorded my first record. Um I recorded with the youth name um K Sharp, who is um the same K Sharp who's from Just Now, um super producer who's nice, who's pretty who's um produced big songs like Chuck on the Road and all these huge records. Yeah, nice. So um yeah, that was 1998, was it? Yeah, it's 26 years. That's a long time ago. That's a long time, you know what I'm saying? I'm in the business and and um so I wouldn't say this the first time I rec I I recorded, I recorded a song, but I wouldn't say it was my my prof my most professional entry into right, right, right.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you gotta start somewhere, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, so we you know those days we didn't have those days we was recording in the bathroom, you know, it was recording in in in the shower. Nice acoustics, yeah, you know, best acoustics, right? Um you know, so um, so we've come a long way uh in the game.
SPEAKER_03Definitely nice.
SPEAKER_05When was your first professional debut then? Because you did at some point decide, yes, I wanna I wanna keep doing this. This is what I like, and this is what I what I'm gonna do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08I think my first official release, like real song, real thing where I could say, alright, yeah, we could present this to you. Well, was probably in 2000, 2006, 2005, somewhere around it.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Right.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Was there a special like a song that you uh that you use there?
SPEAKER_08There's a song that I I wouldn't I probably I probably wouldn't tell you to go and listen to. Uh huh. I probably would say you need to go and listen to it, but the song's title was uh Rock Your Boat. And um Yeah, so that was I think my full my first most professional record to say, alright, here's this character since we see somebody enter the scene and be like, Yeah, I'm here. Yeah, probably got a good like five plays on the record, if I'm gonna well I'm gonna listen to it tonight about a hundred times.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_08So that was kind of my entry into the arena, and um so from 1998 to 9 to 2006, I mean, you know, doing it.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so so from that moment, obviously, since 1998 is is it's been a long time, so you must have like had a lot of experiences, a lot of good things, a lot of bad things, a lot of lessons learned, a lot of things that that you know that you can work and build on. Um, anybody starting in the business right now, what would you tell them? Like, okay, this is one thing that I need to tell you. If it's if it's one thing, this is the one thing I'm gonna tell you. What would that be?
SPEAKER_08Man, so I've I've I've I've I've had this question posed to me and I've had kind of a roller coaster of answers. Um my instinct, my instinct, if I'm being honest, would say go listen to nobody.
SPEAKER_09Uh-huh. Okay.
SPEAKER_08But that's kind of a um a double-edged sword, right? Because if you'd be listening to me, tell you don't listen.
SPEAKER_05That is very true. That is very true.
SPEAKER_08It's a problematic thing, but I I think I think that this business is different for me than it would be for you. Right? And my experiences, what what roads I cross, um, I think for the majority of the time is gonna be different for you than it is for me. So my input as it relates to advice, I mean, how much of that can you take on and say, alright, yeah, I'm gonna do that, which is good, right? Doing that might might might take you in an opposite direction of where it is that you want to go, right?
SPEAKER_09Of course, yeah. So I think so.
SPEAKER_08If if I could answer that again, I think I would say like have people around you who know you, right? Yeah, who understand you and the things that you believe to be true, and the things that that that rock with you, and then those will help will help you make the decisions that you need to go forward, I think, in the business. I think when you know, I don't know if you sat on a on a counselor's chair, but oftentimes the the the therapist is not telling you what to do. They're kind of trying to help you get through the thing and you kind of figuring out what you need to do. Exactly. So anybody who gives advice, I don't know, there's a whole profession where no advice is given. You know what I'm saying? Like if so, I think we have to be careful when we say, like, yeah, what would you tell somebody? I I I would I would simply say follow your passion, follow your dreams. Try not to take on too many opinions about what it is that you want to do, um, what is it, what sounds good to you, yeah. You know, yeah, um, you put forward your best product, the best product you can put forward, and and um you know let the universe decide whether or not they stay rocking with it or not, you know.
SPEAKER_05Uh still very good answer. I I I definitely like in obviously I agree with everything you say. Uh, I do think it's very important to have a strong team uh surrounding yourself. Definitely definitely, yeah, because if you want to do something by yourself, it can work out, absolutely. If that's the person you are, and you know you're strong enough to do that by yourself. But having a team around you, it will help you. And like there's always things that that a per that an artist might not be very strong in, even if it's like finances or bookings or whatever, having a team around you that will help 100%.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that I think that's key. It's just having the right people who and I think the key is that know you, right?
SPEAKER_03Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Of course, you know, because people take you at face value, they meet you one time and they might say, Oh, this person is this or this person is that, and they're giving you giving you um uh a perspective based off of what they think they know about you, as opposed to knowing you, I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Nice, nice, nice. That's all wisdom right there, which obviously is expected after that long in the game. Exactly. My gosh. I did see a sort of gap in released videos in on YouTube, like I think it was between 10 years and well, at some point you have a song with uh Mr. Killer, yeah, and before that it's like quiet on the YouTube for for a moment.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Was there like did you choose to go in a direction by that time, or was there something else?
SPEAKER_08Or no, I think with specifically YouTube, uh the YouTube game and trying to put the music on all the platforms and and and being YouTube specific, um something that I think, at least for me, had a little bit of a learning curve. Um and then you know, pushing out music videos as opposed to maybe a live video as a or just opposed to some type of video just would have would have the music behind it, um, and balancing that, right? There's obviously there's there's a financial strain as it relates to putting out music videos. And if you're an artist who's who's on up and coming, it might be a little bit of a challenge um to put out those what might be expected as music videos on these on these platforms. Yeah, 100%. And so you'll see a gap, and only because I'm I'm I was probably broke for them five years or something.
SPEAKER_03I hear it, boy. I hear it.
SPEAKER_05And it's it's interesting what you're saying though, because besides you're absolutely right, the financial aspect is is also like uh a showstopper, literally, sometimes. Um but at the same time, you mentioned also the the YouTube game trying to spread music on different platforms. Again, that's that's where a team comes in, right? Like you might be the best artist, but if you don't know anything about social media or YouTube or whatever, which I can imagine because nobody does everything in right 100%, you know. That's that's why you need these people who are experts in that sense. Yeah, nice.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it could be very challenging, you know. And yeah, and so these challenges didn't escape me, you know, it's just part of the game, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It can be overwhelming as well, because of even with me, like I've got like my DJ page, and then I've got like my personal page, and then I've got Snapchat, and I've got all these different platforms, and then just trying to upload content on all of them, I find it overwhelming sometimes. So I can kind of relate it to that obviously. Well, I think, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_05And we can even see it for our for this podcast, uh Sharon, because there's months where we we find time and we find energy to just make like like content for a month, and there's moments where we're like, oh, you know, work or whatever we're doing is just uh a bit overwhelming, and uh it's it's it's tricky. We need to get a team, Sharon. We need more people. We do.
SPEAKER_03Do you want to join the team, Sisway? You want to be put a team?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but immediately on the recruiting side. There we go.
SPEAKER_03I'll send you a Soccer Chronicles jumper, you can promote while you're mammy. I'll fly out and give it to you.
SPEAKER_08How about a chicken? You gotta once a week.
SPEAKER_05Nice. That's good, that's well arranged. Yeah. Alright, so I think it's time to talk music.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_05So we have a top three of songs, as we always do. I do have to say, these are of your more recent songs. Yeah. So we didn't go way back into the you know 17 plus years, but these are songs that we listened to and we we enjoyed, and there's actually one or two that I recognized from like mixes or whatever. Yeah. And I always liked that.
SPEAKER_03And I was like, Oh, yeah, like oh it's
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly, exactly. So that's uh I had a couple of the honors. We have the same, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03We have the same.
SPEAKER_05Um all right, so Norry started at number three. Sharnice, do you wanna have the honours?
SPEAKER_03I will have the honour, thank you. So at number three, we have Capital. So tell us a little bit about that song, how did it come about? What was your side?
SPEAKER_06Welcome to the Capital Capital.
SPEAKER_03Big tune. This I recognize it from a DJ Gel mix. That's where I recognize it from.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, Gell has been definitely supporting me over the last couple of years, and um, I really appreciate his uh his inputs and um his ability to push music, you know. Yes, yeah. Um who might not necessarily have B or who might not necessarily have the the name recognition like like some, um depend on DJs like Shell to push forward the music, you know? Exactly. So pick up it, Shell. Um but yeah, Capital was um Capital is like three years old. Right? Um it's a project that I had, and um we we we ran into some technical issues with the song, and so we had a shelve it.
SPEAKER_05And then right, right.
SPEAKER_08Hold on, three years ago three years. It's about three years. This year would be the third year. So now so two years. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um and um it was written by James DP. Um, the one that sits Nookie, Nookie Tonight, yeah. Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, and James's pen is crazy, you know. He and he like he has a lot of songs on under his belt that he's pen, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um you know, he he wrote Black Tulk. Um, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Big Tune.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Big Tune. Big Tune. So um James has definitely been in my corner for the first few years, and um, so he penned our record for me. Um, we had some technical issues with the record, and so we held it off. And then um we linked Friction from St. Vincent. And um, so he was like, Yeah, monsons, we could do this thing, thing, thing, and you know, and in 2-2s, um, friction with like had the bass line, and then we reached out to All-Star Brass to do the horns. Oh nice, you know. Um, and so I think everything, not everything, but most of the instruments are live in our record.
SPEAKER_05See, and and that's what I that's what I hear. That's what that's why I actually I like this song a lot. Uh but it's because I can hear the natural sound of it, if that makes sense. Like obviously a lot of music is made with with drum computers or like uh you know digital sounds, which is perfectly fine. Uh but when you hear the actual sound, it just sounds different. The actual instrument, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, no, there's there's there's a different, you know, when you hear when you hear the strumming at the guitar, when you hear it like the the actual strum, you know, and yeah, yeah, no imperfections in the record, like it doesn't sound like you know, you know. Exactly.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, sounds authentic.
SPEAKER_08Authentic just have a vibey record and give you kind of a especially if you love soccer, give you a homey feeling, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, yeah, so Capital is definitely probably one of my favorite records um that I've ever done, to be honest.
SPEAKER_05Nice, nice, nice, nice. I'm happy it came out even if it's after two years. Because it would be a shame that would be on the shelf.
SPEAKER_08They say everything happens in its own time, man, and everything happens for a reason, you know, and so we just and getting uh and and accepting that is also a process, right? Accepting that that concept and saying, you know, as a musician, as an artist, you kind of want to just like put it out, you just want to create it and you want it out, you know. Um but recognizing that you know there's no there's no time limit, and so yeah when it comes out and come out and and you know, and hopefully just people will receive it. And I'm glad to hear that you know that was one of your favorite records of mine. 100%, 100%.
SPEAKER_03I think we should have a listen. What do you think? Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Agreed. Let's have a listen. That was my personal favorite Capitol from Situay. Let's move on to number two, Charles.
SPEAKER_03Number two, we have trouble. So again, yeah, tell me about this song.
SPEAKER_05Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03That was that was the one where I was like, oh, this one, because this is again another gel mix.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we're we're both uh devout gel listeners, so uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Big fans.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Come on, dude, come up.
SPEAKER_08Love it, man. Love it. Uh you want my girl, give me two pieces lash behind me truck, whole day you won't play, I tell you, don't play.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. And then the way it builds up, it's yeah, uh magnificent.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08You know, trouble is a true story, you know. Oh, tell me the big line, trouble, like you want a girl, give me two pieces lash behind the truck all day. You won't play, I tell you, don't play. Yeah. Um Trouble was actually produced and written and recorded in here. Um, yeah, uh, and that's from K Shaw, uh, from Just Stop. Um so every every couple of years he comes here and he likes this what we don't do, and then we he just built and then you know, yeah, we just kind of we just have this thing, but I've known K Shaw since my my first recording ever was with K Shaw.
unknownOf course.
SPEAKER_08So I think we're we're super familiar and um he knows me. Um and he knows like my my vibe. I'm most comfortable in in that space. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um, I have this Miami-based thing, and you know, so and he knows that um because he used to live here in Miami as well. So we have this this Miami thing that we have together. Yeah, yeah. And so this is the product, you know, and uh yeah, so his story is, you know, my my wife, she doesn't like this story, but it's the truth, like you know, um it's been a couple of times where she where she may have a let it it is alleged that she starts put her hands on a couple people.
SPEAKER_02Um gosh allegedly allegedly there's no evidence, you know.
SPEAKER_08And I so I'm saying I'd be like, you know, stop playing, like you know, don't play.
SPEAKER_06You know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I'm not responsible for you know that sounds like trouble.
SPEAKER_09You know, you're causing trouble, you know.
SPEAKER_04Um gosh, that is hilarious.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Real trouble, it's causing trouble, you know. Um I mean I'd be looking for the trouble too, like of course, of course.
SPEAKER_03You just can't help yourself, can you?
SPEAKER_08I mean, it's funny for, you know.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh. It is what it is.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you know, meeting looking blood, and oh my god. So we were we were um we were in here and um yeah, uh it just kinda it just kind of I think it was it took us maybe a half hour, maybe an hour to produce and you know it was wild. Authentic, and I I think I sat with the verse number the second verse for um for a couple of days and then we did it and got the music video in Trinidad. Um I don't know if you saw the video. I did and uh that was right as well. Yeah, that was like a today for tomorrow kind of video, too. You know, um yeah, my my guy uh called me and was like, Yo, Sus, you wanna come and shoot the video?
SPEAKER_07And I'm like, you know, so we just told him, Play, let me start the video and then came back like the next day or two days later. Nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_05The video is it suits the energy as well. It's it's very active and uh yeah, I like it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's um Madhead. Um he's actually like a back and forth in the UK, and so he gave me what I think is kind of a UK style visual, you know, kind of runs me, you know. I think I I I hate the I don't know what where UK style is, but what I imagine UK style to be. It's it's grimy-ish, like yeah, it's like uh grimy, you know, a lot of motion and you know, screw you with the camera, you know, and um I don't know, like chat boy is huge out here, and so that's like that's my ending.
SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh, that's I sometimes try to to do that slang and everything, but uh get sort of in it, bro.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh my goodness. I beg, okay, yeah, stop. Have you lost it, bruv? Have you lost it? Oh my goodness, not you as well. I beg, please, please just feel right there, mate. It's not no, this isn't cool. This isn't cool. Oh my god. Nah, I'm done. I'm done. Bye. I'm logging off.
SPEAKER_05Sorry, it's in trouble.
SPEAKER_03I want the food, bro. Oh nah stop. That's terrible. That's actually terrible.
SPEAKER_05That's terrible, still, still.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god, I love the vibes, and yeah, I just can't wait to come back. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I've been less once or twice, and um I'm coming back.
SPEAKER_03No, you're not just just no no no, don't even bother. Just stay out of the UK. I don't want you there.
SPEAKER_08Visa.
SPEAKER_03No with that. Nah, you're not welcome.
SPEAKER_06I'm thinking we send in your friends. You're like, yeah, don't be bags.
SPEAKER_08You're punishing me. No, it needs to happen, it needs to happen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, not in your carnival this year, what are you saying?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, man, send the ticket.
SPEAKER_03Me, send the ticket with what money?
SPEAKER_05That's that's hard line normally.
SPEAKER_03I'm broke.
SPEAKER_05Guys, I think it's time to listen to this song because we've been talking about it. Oh yeah, sorry, we're getting distracted. Show the listeners what we're well listening let the listeners listen to what we're talking about. Let's go with trouble. Trouble. That was trouble. I should not say that every single time. I can't say trouble anywhere without adding the horns like after that. So that's gonna be trouble. Okay, I'm done. Uh Shorens, number one, please.
SPEAKER_03Now number one. I'm sorry. Sorry, go on.
SPEAKER_08I'm sorry. Uh just to say that those horns were were sampled from um a super blue record, you know. So we uh case we have to. Oh, really? So they're live horns, just not live before they put the record.
SPEAKER_03Nice, nice.
SPEAKER_05Because I couldn't tell you, I mean, I would have said I would have believed you if you said they were live. Yeah, yeah. They're quite they're strong, so yeah. Yeah, nice, nice, nice. All right, Sharon's go for number one.
SPEAKER_03But I need a drum roll, please.
SPEAKER_05Not for me because I always mess it up. Thank you, thank you, Sisway. Okay, so everybody who's only listening, we're editing drums now.
SPEAKER_03At number one, we have the biggest, the baddest. We have good morning.
SPEAKER_02How was that intro? Was that a good intro?
SPEAKER_05That was a good one, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Come on. What is that?
SPEAKER_05Everybody's hyped right now. Yeah, good morning. Tell us a little bit about uh oh for flip's sake, though. That's my joke. That's my joke.
SPEAKER_04Sorry, tell me about it.
SPEAKER_05Tell us a little bit about good morning, please. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08How that came about. Good morning is a is a is is another Kishov production. Um, you know, the story is um Peter Wildfire and I, we have a song called Play. And um we we went to Panama to shoot that video, right? Okay, um, and so big up La Pana, who was the um who produced the record and direct direct produced the video and directed video. Um, so we went to Panama and it was kind of for business, like we was in and out of there, you know, just kinda from the time that we reached, you know, and so on the day of our flight leaving, and my my wife is involved in the story too. Uh on the on the day of our flight leaving, I was like, yo, I go in the pool, right? And he was like, yo, it's six o'clock in the morning, you know. I'm like, yeah, and I'm in Panama, and we I ain't touched the pool yet, right? You know what I'm saying? So I pay money for this hotel. I'm going to law. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's it, right? So I went in the pool, and you know, it's nice bright sky, and so I went to to like FaceTime and Wise, and you know, just to be like, good morning, you know, and um she didn't answer, right? Because of the time difference. Oh, and um, so I was like, well, I don't want to waste that good money. So I went on my live on my IG and I did that same like good morning, and I did a laugh. And that kind of like it kind of went viral a little bit, you know. And so I did it the next morning. Um, same kind of laugh and good morning, and that took again, and people like commenting. It was like this weird, like, what the hell is this? You know, and so people people were thinking that oh, this this is promo for a song, but I didn't have no song. I was like this really saying good morning. So now you had to make a song.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_08So that story, so now I had this rhythm from K Shop. I had this this whole other record, this whole other song written for the song, and um he was coming to the studio that day, and I was we was in the house in the studio with with fire, and I was like, yo, we gotta write a song about good morning. And he was like, Yeah, but we have this song already, you have this song already. And I'm like, nah, we ain't doing that song. Okay, so I'm he late to the to the session, right? So in that time period, fire and I wrote good morning, right? Um the first line is um some people say I go in on time in mind, they always have an opinion about my life as far as lying, right? And then so we just continued writing from there. Um so by the time K came to the session, we had we have already halfway done recording songs, right? And so now we had a project for the good morning that we was that I was doing previously. You know, but yeah, go ahead, sorry.
SPEAKER_05No, no, sorry, I just I'm just amazed because this is the first time I hear like promotion unintended result into music, if you know what I mean. Notice the other way around, of course. But it's such a cool yeah, because it it takes like something to recognize that hey, this is potential, so let me stop what I was doing and let me actually build on that momentum that I'm making to make this work. That's cool.
SPEAKER_08That's exactly that's exactly how how it happened, and and you know, and I think good morning kind of came in a time where I think we was we were coming out of COVID uh in that time period, and I think it was just coming in a space where people needed to hear good morning to. Yeah, to see the laugh, and you know, the amount of messages I would get on a daily, because I was doing it every day. I was doing a good morning and and some type of messaging, you know, and the amount of messages that I was getting about that good morning, like personal, like big men, like big men, strong, and messaging me, and not and I wouldn't say no names, but message me into saying that yo, that my good morning stopped them from jumping off the jumping off the building today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right? Like real, like these these are people that that I know, like, you know, and some that I didn't know who it was that that I I can't lie, maybe at least 10-15 times I got that type of message about the good morning saved their life, you know.
SPEAKER_05Well that that must have been intense as well for you. Like there's a lot of pressure on you at some point as well.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it was because then then I felt obligated. There was a pressure to continue morning, you know.
SPEAKER_07Um so that that got a little it got a little uh strenuous um for me, you know, but I think it definitely came in a time where people needed it, and I'm glad to be to been able to be a part of that situation along with Fire and Um and K Shaw, you know. Yeah, nice.
SPEAKER_03Definitely that's an amazing story, man. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, it's always nice to know that you've you've helped somebody in some way, shape, or form, even if it's something just as small as just a good morning.
SPEAKER_08Exactly. Yeah, yeah. And especially create um being being a creative because I think I think uh a creative's goal is is for their product or whatever that came out of their imagination, for it to for it to touch uh somebody else is so meaningful. Yeah you know, whether it's whether it's a piece of art or whether it's song, you know?
SPEAKER_05Exactly. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08When when these things when these things resonate with people, right? Like my words resonate with you so much so that you're Recalling the song and and you learn you memorize the thing, those things are are are uh uh I don't know priceless. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Very powerful, also very powerful motivation to continue with music. Absolutely, absolutely, definitely. Yeah, yeah, 100%. All right, should we have a listen to our number one song?
SPEAKER_03I think we should.
SPEAKER_05Good morning, let's go.
unknownGood morning.
SPEAKER_06Once again, what's it all in all up in my up on the biggest up in life? I don't think it's all we're gonna get.
SPEAKER_05We are now almost with our last questions, and also meaning we're looking forward to Sharon's favorite question.
SPEAKER_03My favorite question. Alright, so will you marry me?
SPEAKER_09Oh I don't think you're following uh Sharon's gonna give me a child.
SPEAKER_05Oh goodness gracious.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, I'm so sorry. I had to do that. I thought I told you from before, you know me. I love to talk a lot of nonsense. Anyway, so this is the question that we ask every single person that we you know have on here and have a discussion with. So if you were stuck in a studio with any soaker artist dead or alive, who would it be and why?
SPEAKER_08Wow, any soak artist, any soaker artist dead or alive. There's so many.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but you can only name one, and I don't want to be like, oh, but what if no, just one that's it? Don't give me a question.
SPEAKER_05This is why it's a favorite question.
SPEAKER_03See what I mean? People try, but oh but if it was this situation, it would be this person, but then if it was this situation, no. One. That's it, no more than one.
SPEAKER_02You oh lord.
SPEAKER_08No, I think I think um my instincts again say this sparrow. Right?
SPEAKER_03Oh, Sparrow, okay, nice. That's a new idea.
SPEAKER_08It would be sparrow because transcended Kai So and Kalso. Like he just he was like this fresh new thing. Um you know, like his his styling and his energy and his vibes and his smile, and you know, and uh uh it all came out in on on wax. Um and I think he was just so dynamic. Um, I wish I was around in them times. Yeah, you know, um where I could, you know, I mean, I wish I was this age in them times. Exactly, exactly. You know, yeah, um, where I could like be a part of that energy. Not to say that this energy is bad or or that energy is better, but just to feel like it's a it's a different era and it's one that I think helped trailblaze and move the genre into into where we are today. Yeah, you know, so um if you go back and listen to Sparrow and all these songs, right? Like um, yeah, no, it's um yeah, it would definitely be like off the top, right now I would say I would say Sparrow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay, it's nice. Yeah, nobody's nobody said Sparrow before.
SPEAKER_05No, they've always stuck to well, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Not really. We've had a few ones that are different, like, because obviously I would expect people to be like, oh Mashelle or Kiss or Bungie. But yeah, we've had bungee, you know, but when we hear like different answers, I love it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, this this is why we ask the questions to everybody because we always get a very interesting answer.
SPEAKER_08That era speaks to me the most, right? That's where I grew up in soccer. I'm an 80s baby, and so like those are prime times for for me watching the older people dance and party, and you know, my dad used to play music and stuff. So, like for me, yeah, the tunes between aginas and these things um were significant. And if you listen to if you listen to um The Capitol, it has Dar vibe, you know, 100%.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I I used to do a lot of sampling, like when I was producing, and by accident I had a load of Sparrow records at some point. Didn't even know what Soka was back then. So I was like, oh, this is nice.
SPEAKER_08Right? That you not following Soka at the time still had sparrow records. Exactly. Yeah, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_05In in the Netherlands, by the way, as well. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_08Like it's not even yeah, yeah, that's a big deal. Yeah, you know, so this is why I think I would take and I hope I hope nobody's no nobody takes it like in a disrespect to anybody present. But of course not for me to if I sit down with anybody in a studio, you know, it would have to be sparrow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No, I love that answer.
SPEAKER_05Same nice. I think we should start wrapping up the show, Sharon's. You're making dancing moves, is there?
SPEAKER_03I feel like dancing, yeah. Sorry, sorry, let me stop. Right. I think this is the part where you need to plug, plug, plug your socials. Let people know where they can find you, where they can find your music, etc. etc. If you've got anything that you're looking to release soon and you want to mention, this is your time. Plug, plug, plug. Go.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, so if you're looking for me, you can go to my website, it's www.google.com, right? I was saying they're waiting like google.com slash slash google.com, type in my name, and you'll find me, right? Um, but um, all the handles is at it's I-t-s-s-i-z-w-e, it's scissory. Um, I think Facebook is Sisve C Soka. Um look out for my band. I'm launching a band um on April 20th, actually. So that nice exit band. Um live music and you know, just kind of take yeah, yeah. You can listen, you wanna be my wife, you wanna come any band? There we go.
SPEAKER_03All this love. There we go. I have many uses.
SPEAKER_05I feel like there's a song in there somehow, but anyway, my band.
SPEAKER_08You know, so yes, Mountain Band, exit band, so you can look out for that on social media as well. The band, IG is there. Um, and what else? Uh new music coming out. I have about four or five songs. Nice. Some work with um LL Cool Blaze, who's who's a producer of this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, yeah. I've heard of L Cool Blaze, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, big, big time, right? Um big up to the Madman Stunt Man. You know, I've been able to do some touring with him. We did um we did 20,000 people in in you know you know the madman stunt man, right?
SPEAKER_03No, I'm not gonna lie to you.
SPEAKER_08I like to move and move it.
SPEAKER_03Oh no way, is that you? Is that how you're moving? In these circles, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_08I've been I've just been privileged and um grateful for the opportunities given to me. Um and you know, I'm his I'm his official um MC. And um yeah, we did we did 20,000 in Prague. Yeah, we did another 20,000 in in in um Cuba. Wow. Um and you know, so just kind of looking forward to do more work with him. So these are the things that that I'm trying to do. Um, and and then being able to to to go on tour with him allows me to also push the soaker forward, you know. Um because he allows me to do to do one or two songs. Uh you know, so now the person who might not have the person who might not have necessarily been privy to the soaker can now get to these channels. Exactly. You know, so I'm um I'm grateful for those opportunities. So you can follow the match madman stuntman, follow myself, follow real to real, um, and yeah, make it moves.
SPEAKER_04Nice.
SPEAKER_05So all the links that you just mentioned, we're gonna try to get all of them, link them all in the description of this podcast episode. Yeah. So if anybody didn't follow, you can just uh look it up and uh click the click indeed.
SPEAKER_08Yep.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_08Big up the um my management, A Plus Management, big up the supernatro uh. Charles, I was I respect runs. I respect the brums.
SPEAKER_03Still, still stop with that accent, I beg. I beg. You're killing it right now.
SPEAKER_08It can't be that bad. Is it that bad? Is my thing that bad? It's awful. It's better than mine.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely awful.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely better than mine, don't worry.
SPEAKER_03I think it's time to cut this off. Because I've had enough of you now. You gotta go.
SPEAKER_05You gotta go. Before we do that, please. Thank you very much for your time. Um, we're gonna well, we're gonna link everything, like I said. Yep, yeah. SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know, and there was like loads of things that he mentioned that I was like, raw. Yeah, swear down, Ross. Yeah, no way. No, I'm actually honest, he's very interested.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and his his advice of don't listen to anybody. Although he said, Yeah, also don't listen to me. That makes it a bit of a paradox, but I love it. I love it.
SPEAKER_03Literally. Man has a point. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, definitely, because a lot of people, like let's say you you have an idea and you speak to people about it. A lot of people can like put you off of your idea, but sometimes it's just like follow your mind, follow your gut, go through it. If you fail, you fail. Do you know what I mean? Just get up, yeah, try again, try something different.
SPEAKER_05100%. So 100%.
SPEAKER_03That's it, really.
SPEAKER_05Life lessons, you know.

SPEAKER_05Alright then. Take care, guys. Bye bye.
SPEAKER_03Alright, take care. Push.
